Has anybody out there heard of a Polish dish called bovalki?
It's a Polish dish consisting of sauerkraut and dumplings. I need the recipe.
My parents are of Slovak origin. Many times, individual immigrant families call things by names different or they have different recipes. The dish my parents call bobalki is basically small balls of dough (about 1 "around) that are prepared with lots of poppy seeds in a sauce a little sweet. (thus similar to meatballs) They are also a dish that I love but I do not remember what they say. Basically, they make the yeast dough into a circle (like pizza, but thicker) and top some of them with sauerkraut, some with cottage cheese, and some with stewed prunes.
