Does anybody have any info on the ceramic (a pitcher) Made in Japan?
I collect launchers (mostly sitting in the big bowls). When I moved recently, I came across a small pitcher that I do not even remember buying. I have picked up well in a garage sale somewhere along the path. Its smaller (perhaps about 8 inches in height) and the main part is round. Its like a little circle w / 4 small legs, a handle and spout on it. It is located in a small flat spot. I'm not even sure if he is a pitcher, I do not know not what else to call. He raised an image of a sailboat on one side and a lighthouse on the other. Both sides have a border of flowers and leaves. There is a stamp on the bottom. There is little leaf shaped horseshoe w / a flower or clover inside of it and below it is said in Japan. All I still collect is American and thats all the ceramics and pottery books that I cover. I'm curious about this piece and would love it if someone had some info. Thank you!
There are a lot of Japanese ceramics around! So probably a visit to an antique shop with the helpful staff is the best way to go. This could be a bottle of sake, but this is certainly an element of tourism and modern enough (I mean 20th century) as it is said in Japan, and has therefore been made for export.
